PD Roles & Responsibilities
1. Role of PD Co-ordinator (part-time, 56 days per year)
To create a co-ordinated approach to PD and support the Branches in organising major PD events.
Liaise with Branches and SIGs on what events they want to run
Source potential speakers
Liaise with speakers re arrangements for events and negotiate costs
Liaise with venue and sponsors to negotiate costs and offers
Develop information for promotion and registrations
Promote events through other organisations
Arrange handouts for the event and availability of presenation on website
Prepare budgets for each event to be approved by the Treasurer
Liaise with Branch and SIG PD representatives on looking after the event on the day
Gather information about PD events and report on activity:
To the Board quarterly
To the PD Committee and Branch Chairs
Annual Report to the AGM
HFESA Newsletter quarterly
Regular updates on the website
Develop resources to assist the Branches and SIGs, such as Checklist for Planning Events, Pricing Guidelines, Calendar of Events by other Associations
Develop strategic partnerships with other professional associations
Prepare annual budget for Committee to discuss and Board to approve
Facilitate the PD Committee in sharing useful information
2. Role of PD Committee
To share information about PD between the Branches and SIGs and learn from each others' experience
Determine the hot topics that HFESA should be focusing on in its PD activities
Source local expertise and pass that on to the PD Co-ordinator
Share information about planned events with a view to events being run in several locations, assisting smaller branches in particular
Provide input to the editor of
Ergonomics Australia
on topics and contributors
3. Role of PD Representatives
To look after major PD events on the day in return for a complimentary registration since it's not economically viable for the PD Co-ordinator to attend all events.
Work with their Branch or SIG Committee in developing Branch or SIG PD events
Share their plans with the PD Committee
Get feedback from their Branch or SIG Committee about events they want to host
Provide information on local venues and get quotes
Provide information on potential sponsors for specific events
Assist in developing lists of names and contact numbers to directly promote events
4. Role of the Board
To provide overall management of the PD activities
Review performance and allocate an annual budget for PD events
Provide strategic direction to the PD Committee and Co-ordinator
