Recent PD Events

A total of seven half or full-day workshops took place during 2009 involving international and national experts, including HFESA Fellows and Certified Professional Ergonomists, as follows:

  • February, Launceston, TAS - Jennifer Long, HFESA CPE and Occupational Optometry Specialist, Vision in the Workplace, and Susie Riddoch, HFESA Member, titled member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and Clinical Occupational Physiotherapist, Keyboard Overuse Injuries to the Neck and Shoulders.

 

  • March, Brisbane, QLD - Dr Ken Catchpole, Co-director of the Quality, Reliability, Safety and Teamwork Unit at the University of Oxford, keynote at the Sydney Healthcare Syposium, Identifying and Reducing Errors in Surgical Care, with support from the National ICT Australia (NICTA) - presentation available to Members in Member Downloads

 

  • May, Perth, WA - Mark O'Dwyer, h2O Architects, keynote speaker at 2008 HFESA National Conference, Challenges for Architects and Ergonomists in Designing the Built Environment of the Future, with support from the Architects Institute of Australia and the Design Institute of Australia - presentation available to Members in the Resource Library

 

  • June, Adelaide, SA - Professor Sara Czaja, Director of Centre for Research and Education on Ageing and Technology Enhancement, University of Miami, keynote speaker at 2009 New Zealand Ergonomics Society National Conference, Ageing in the 21st Century:  Opportunities and Challenges, in association with the University of Adelaide Healthy Ageing Research Cluster - presentation available to Members in Member Downloads

 

  • June, Melbourne, VIC - Dr Gary Dennis HFESA CPE, Director ErgoEnterprises, Adjunct University of Queensland, Reducing Injuries from Manual Tasks:  A Participative Ergonomics Approach, in association with OT Australia (Vic) - presentation available to Members in Member Downloads

 

  • August, Wollongong, NSW - David Brown HFESA Fellow, Consultant in Ergonomics & Occupational Psychology, Get Real About Stress,  in association with the University of Wollongong and the Illawarra Ergonomics Group - presentation available to Members in Member Downloads

 

  • September, Canberra, ACT - Professor Niki Ellis, Deputy CEO of Australian Institute of Health Workforce Innovation, University of Queensland, and Ms Kirsten Way, HFESA CPE, Manager, Psychological Injury and Cognitive Ergonomics, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, Organisational Stress and Psychological Injury, with support from Safe Work Australia, the Office of the ACT OH&S Commissioner the Safety Institute of Australia (ACT), and the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM)
