The HFESA have the following grades of membership (greater detail is available in the Membership Matrix):
- Fellow - this membership category is by invitation only and is bestowed to a qualified person with long standing involvement in human factors and ergonomics
- Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) - this category is for any Human Factors Professional or Ergonomist who has appropriate qualifications and can prove their experience. Please refer to the Membership Matrix for requirements for this membership category.
- Member - this category is for any individual who has qualifications in Human Factors and / or Ergonomics
- Affiliate - this category represents any individual who is interested in the area of Human factors and / or Ergonomics, but does not have suitable qualifications to become a full Member
- Student - available to any full-time student
- Retired Member - this category is available to existing members of the HFESA, who are now retired (no longer working) and want to stay involved in the community. Available on request only.
- Corporate Membership - For any organisation that wishes to support the HFESA.
Although you can join the Society as an Affiliate or Student member via the website, to upgrade to full Member or join using the manual process, you will need to complete the application form :
- Full member (Also provide copies of CV and certificates of qualifications)
- Student membership (Full-time students only and proof required) (Complete the application form only if not joining on line, include proof of full-time student status)
- Affliate membership (Complete the application form only if not joining on line - no need to send CV or certificates of qualifications for this m/ship grade)
