SUMMARY:HealthSIG workshop: Human Factors resource for health professionals
  and health services staff
DESCRIPTION:\n\nWhat is our goal? To develop Human Factors resources for he
 alth professionals and health service staff.\n\nWhy is a resource needed? 
 The success of quality and safety initiatives in healthcare is often depen
 dent on the consideration of the “human factor”. Unfortunately\, knowl
 edge and understanding of Human factors and Ergonomics among healthcare wo
 rkers is limited. The purpose of the proposed resource is to increase huma
 n factors awareness and capability among health professionals and health s
 ervices staff.\n\nWhat form will the resource take? We envision developing
  material analogous to the “OHS Book of Knowledge” based on best pract
 ice methods of common human factors applications in healthcare. The initia
 l training materials will be written at an introductory level\, and presen
 ted in such a way that comprehension and retention is possible for human f
 actors novices with clinical backgrounds. The materials will be distribute
 d online under a Creative Commons license (BY-NC-SA). We also intend to le
 verage and/or adapt training materials and tools developed by the Clinical
  Human Factors Group in the UK.\n\nAim of workshop? The aim of this initia
 l workshop is to determine content areas to include in the training materi
 als (a core curriculum). In particular\, the following will be discussed:\
 n1. Core content to be included in the training material\n2. The most suit
 able format for the material\n3. The process for developing the content\, 
 including clinical input\n4. The process of reviewing and editing the cont
 ent\n5. The timeline for the project\n6. Next steps\n\nWho should attend t
 he workshop? The workshop is open to all people with an interest in clinic
 al human factors\, including human factors practitioners\, clinicians\, ac
 ademics\, policy makers\, and quality and safety staff.\n\nWorkshop detail
