SUMMARY:Optimising the Interaction Between Users and Automated Systems
DESCRIPTION:Public Transport Victoria's Human Factors Team and the Transpor
t Special Interest Group at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Au
stralia invite you to a morning of talks on the application of human facto
rs methods and research to inform the integration of users and automated s
ystems.\nMorning Talks\nRail operations in Australia are on the cusp of ra
pid technological change. Innovative technologies such as computer-based t
rain control and automated network traffic management have the potential t
o improve operational efficiency and safety. However\, these benefits cann
ot be realised without the application of a systematic Human Factors appro
ach to ensure that interactions between human users and autonomous systems
are based on a thorough understanding of human capabilities and limitatio
ns.\nPublic Transport Victoria's Human Factors Team and the Transport Spec
ial Interest Group at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australi
a invite you to a morning of talks on the application of human factors met
hods and research to inform the integration of users and automated systems
. At this event you will hear from rail industry professionals and leading
researchers from across Australia who are tackling human factors issues a
ssociated with the integration of innovative technologies into modern tran
sport systems. This session has a special focus on HF issues associated wi
th the introduction of automation in passenger and freight rail operations
