SUMMARY:Transport SIG PD: Human Factors Integration For Major Road Tunnel P
 roject
DESCRIPTION:Major tunnel projects impact three major stakeholder groups: op
erators\, maintainers\, and motorists\, therefore the design must carefull
y consider each of these groups in terms of the physical and cognitive erg
onomics of the tunnel and control systems and how to design for driver beh
aviour during normal and degraded operations. Over several major projects
in Australia\, a scalable\, and consistent approach has been successfully
implemented which ensures that human factors interventions are appropriate
at both the package level and at the system of systems level. This approa
ch allows effective collaboration at the package level\, with ownership of
human factors issues and requirements remaining with the package designer
