The Transport SIG is kicking off 2025 with a dynamic discussion on the present and future of Transport Human Factors. In a special extended session, we’ll take stock of where the field stands today and explore what’s on the horizon, guided by the insights of participants.

A panel of HF experts—spanning rail, aviation, roads, and maritime—will bring diverse perspectives from operations, regulation, and research. We’re keen to tap into the collective knowledge of the broader Transport HF community to map out where the discipline is heading and what it’ll take to get there.

The insights gathered will help steer the Transport SIG’s priorities for 2025 and beyond.

Facilitator: Fiona Kenvyn, Manager HF Integration & Change, Metro Trains Melbourne (Transport SIG Committee)

Panel:

  • Matt Harris and Philippe Kilpatrick – Airservices Australia
  • Ben O’Flanagan – Transport for NSW (TfNSW)
  • Reece Cook – National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR)
  • Joy Mitchell and Jennifer Alcock – Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR)
  • Prof Paul Salmon – Centre for Human Factors and Sociotechnical Systems, University of the Sunshine Coast.
