Sara is the principal work design strategist and managing director for ViVA health at work, leveraging design in all industries (industrial and office work settings). She is here to help when you ask: How to design when humans are part of the sys​tem​ (work, product, technology, or environment) and what is the user experience? What if we did things a little differently? What can we dream that can become a new reality? She helps build capacity to innovate to generate some good stories to tell!

Sara consults, teaches, and researches in human factors, human-centred design, and organisational strategy. Sara is affiliated with five Australian universities to advance these ideas for graduate teaching and research. She is also a podcast rabble-rouser with the WhyWork Podcast crew, examining the boundaries of human experiences at work, how this is tested by case law, and the way in which work can be better designed. Sara is part of the international advisory committee for the WELL Movement concept v2 (International Well Building Institute [IWBI]) and their associated project-based committees and an expert faculty member for Australia’s only certified Wellness WiseTM Practitioner training program.

Sara was the committee chair for the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia’s Good Work Design position paper and supporting resources. Sara is a series co-editor of the Workplace Insights book series by Taylor & Francis and a book co-editor of the Ergonomic Insights book. Her other passions include instructing yoga, Thai massage, and sports & strength conditioning.

Dr. Christopher Reid is a Technical Fellow and Boeing Designated Expert in the Human Factors & Ergonomics discipline and wearable technology. Based out of Charleston, SC, he is the current Technology Architect for Boeing’s Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) organization. Prior to Boeing, Dr. Reid worked for Lockheed Martin on astronaut spacesuit assessment as a Human Factors & Ergonomics Discipline Lead at NASA Johnson Space Center and as a Human Factors Engineer for the US Army Natick Labs, assessing Warfighter personal protective equipment. Outside of Boeing, volunteers his time on a number of technical associations. He was the Human Factors & Ergonomics Society 2021-2022 President, is a member of ASTM International’s Board of Directors and Chair of the ASTM F48.02 Subcommittee on Human Factors & Ergonomics for Exoskeletons and Exosuits. He’s also an advisor on the National Safety Council’s Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) Solutions Lab Advisory Council.

Throughout his career Dr. Reid utilizes human-systems interaction, systems safety, and ergonomics approaches to develop and integrate processes, tools, and technologies that make the aerospace manufacturing and service environments more conducive for mechanics to work in across the different company business units. Examples of his experience are shown in his contributions to return on investment for ergonomics best practices, supporting standards development in human factors and ergonomics, developing techniques for exoskeleton assessment and workplace deployment, and working with organizations to expand human factors and ergonomics to non-traditional communities through diversity equity and conclusion. He is a recipient of both the 2018 Rising Star Award from the National Safety Council and the 2020 Black Engineer of the Year Award for Outstanding Technical Contribution in Industry. He is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, with degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology (BS) and Industrial Engineering (MS and PhD).
