THE FORMAT

HFESA 2025 will span 2.5 days, starting with site visits on Monday morning, followed by an opening keynote after lunch. The plenary program on Tuesday and Wednesday will feature keynote presentations, parallel sessions, sponsor addresses, poster presentations, and interactive discussions.

The HFESA 2025 conference is an in-person event only. Sessions will be recorded and will be available to registered delegates after the event.

Spots for site visits are limited and will book out fast.

Site Visit 1 – The Australian Maritime College

The Australian Maritime Collage (AMC) at the University of Tasmania is a centre of excellence for maritime and marine research. The AMC is Australia’s national maritime centre with the most advanced maritime research facilities in the Southern Hemisphere. This creates an exceptional environment for facilitating research in diverse areas, including maritime renewable energy, naval architecture, fluid dynamics, offshore engineering, human centred design, sustainable ports, and underwater robotics.

Site Visit 2 – Furntech – AFRDI

Join us for an exclusive site visit to Furntech-AFRDI, Australia’s independent not-for-profit technical organisation for the furniture industry. This visit offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at how furniture is tested for ergonomics, safety, durability and sustainability. Learn about the standards that guide product design and certification, and see firsthand how testing supports human-centred design across workplaces and public environments. A must-attend for anyone interested in applied ergonomics and product evaluation.

Site visit 3 – 41° South Tasmania

Discover one of Tasmania’s unique eco-tourism destinations with a guided visit to 41° South Tasmania, a family-run salmon farm and ginseng plantation near Deloraine. Explore the wetlands, learn about sustainable aquaculture and renewable energy, and enjoy the natural beauty of the property’s walking trails, waterfalls and landscaped gardens. A chance to see how innovative, environmentally responsible practices connect food production, ecology and tourism in the Tasmanian context.
